Expressing his despair at the decision that the wives and children of officers of the civil branch of the Ordnance Survey could not expect provision on the death of their husbands or fathers. Noting that he was also a lieutenant colonel of a regiment which he raised at a cost of £1350. Adding that he is 71 years of age and has a wife and eight children to care for and adding that if his son is too young he has a son-in-law who could fill a position. |
