Lists of expenditures include repairs to passage boats, repairs to locks, salaries, turnpikes, Kildare Canal, and River Shannon navigation. Revenues include tolls from dockage, passage boats, turnpikes and fines. Also accounts of Newtown colliery, Queen's County [County Laois], farm of Clonbrock, and of coal and culm stored at Grand Canal docks, Ringsend, Dublin, and an overall account of 'profit and loss'. Signed by Edward Geoghegan, book keeper to Grand Canal Company, and sworn before Alderman William Henry Archer, treasuer of Dublin city, 19 October 1819. |

Letter from Robert Shaw, Dublin, MP for Dublin city, to Chief Secretary's Office, Dublin Castle, enclosing petition of Patrick Campbell, at the request of Campbell, and also enclosing a note from Campbell to Shaw, listing character references who could be contacted. Petition concerns the theatre on Fishamble street, Dublin, owned by Campbell, and the lapse of the patent granted to it in 1794. Requests that government grant a patent to the Fishamble street theatre to operate in the summer months, when Theatre Royal is shut. Annotation by William Gregory, Under Secretary, Dublin Castle states that the Lord Lieutenant 'does not consider it advisable to grant a Patent for a second Theatre in Dublin'. |
