Letter from Arthur Chichester, Harrogate, England, of the 7th (The Queen's Own) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons (Hussars), to Charles Grant, Chief Secretary, Dublin Castle, recommending town of Arthurstown, County Wexford, where he holds extensive property, as a possible site for a new fishing station, under government's scheme for encouragement of Irish fisheries. States his desire to encourage his tenants, and to provide employment to lower orders, 'which are numerous beyond description in the Co of Wexford', 12 November 1821. Petition of William Patterson, debtor imprisoned in Four Courts Marshalsea, Dublin, to Earl Talbot, Lord Lieutenant, Dublin Castle, concerning the attempts of prisoners in the Four Courts to send an earlier petition detailing the 'disaffection' and 'disloyalty' of William Logan, inspector of the marshalsea. States that Logan discovered their plans, and used his influence to prevent the petition from being sent. Patterson warns, 'should any rising take place in this city this would be one of the first places the Rebels would attack'.

Letter from William Acton, West Aston [Westaston], Rathdrum, County Wicklow, magistrate for County Wicklow, to Charles Grant, Chief Secretary, Dublin Castle, concerning an assault on an individual by a water guard stationed at Ballincarrig, County Wicklow. States that the water guard claimed to be acting under orders received from the Lords of the Treasury, to fire at anyone on the high road who refused to stop. Acton fears that someone will soon be killed if this continues, 6 December 1821. Annotation on reverse, of opinion of John Sealy Townsend, KC and legal advisor to Chief Secretary's Office, 11 December 1821.
