Also newspaper extract by Hayes, concerning his accountancy office, and presenting testimonials to his work as public accountant, [probably enclosed in one of his earlier letters to Grant, [May 1821] ]. Letter from Isaac Stewart, 12 Bachelors Walk, Dublin, merchant, to [Earl Talbot, Lord Lieutenant, Dublin Castle], detailing his suggestions to facilitate the introduction of the wool trade into Ireland, and referring to a letter he wrote to Charles Grant, Chief Secretary, on the subject, in February 1820. Emphasises his belief in the importance of such a scheme, commenting that, 'our small farmers do not enjoy the same comfort here as in the north of Ireland and... in Yorkshire where the woollen trade is in every man's house (like the linen trade in the north)', noting that 'a population solely dependent on agriculture is much more than half their time unemployed'. |
