Letter from Henry Andrews, captain in Royal Lancers, Midleton Lodge, Midleton, County Cork, to Lieutenant Colonel Thomas S Sorell, military secretary to Sir David Baird, Commander of the Forces in Ireland, Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, Dublin, enclosing draft of letter from W Durdin, Midleton Lodge, magistrate for County Cork, intended for Henry Addington, 1st viscount Sidmouth, Secretary of State for Home Department [London], 10 December 1821. Andrews states that, Durdin having shown him the intended letter, he believes that it merits government's immediate attention. Durdin's letter concerns Daniel Donovan of Cork city, whom he believes has been in London, in communication with the disaffected in Ireland and England.

Letter from Henry Alcock, Waterford, County Waterford, magistrate, to Chief Secretary's Office, Dublin Castle, 11 December 1821, concerning individuals being threatened into swearing rebel oaths and on the growing resistance to tithes and taxes in the county. Alcock also offers himself as a candidate for the post of chief magistrate of police. Encloses letter from Mr O'Connor, Waterford, shopkeeper, to Alcock, detailing how he was forced to swear an oath to destroy tithe proctors and tax collectors. Also copy of information of O'Connor, sworn before Alcock, 11 December 1821, repeating the details of his letter.
