Petition of Reverend Thomas Grace, Church of Ireland archdeacon of Ardfert, County Kerry, to Richard Wellesley, 1st Marquis Wellesley, Lord Lieutenant, Dublin Castle, pleading for relief on part of impoverished parishioners who are subject to legal proceedings for payment of tithe, one fifth of which flows from the parish of Ardfert and remainder from Belinvoher [Ballinvoher] and other lands; indicates that he has not received his entitlement from his tithes and that the proctors, to which they are set, ‘obtained from the people Considerably more than they engaged to pay’; declares intention ‘to relinquish his rights for the present not in favour of the proctors but in favour of the people’. |
