Letter from Stephen Rumbold Lushington, Treasury Chambers, London, joint secretary to the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury, to Henry Goulburn, Chief Secretary, Dublin Castle, 31 August 1822, enclosing the report of the commissioners of customs on the petition of Judith Newman, widow of Thomas Newman, land carriage officer at Cork, requesting a pension [report not present], and also enclosing a letter from John Ormsby Vandeleur, Abraham Hely Hutchinson, Robert Wynne, and Henry Hamilton, commissioners of customs, custom house, Dublin, to the Lord Lieutenant, dated 15 July 1811, concerning Newman's original application. This details Thomas Newman's death from a fever caught whilst on night duty, and recommends his widow for a pension. Lushington requests to know why this original application had not been granted by the Lord Lieutenant in 1811.

Dombrain dismisses Boyd's proposals, noting that an increase in numbers may soon be necessary to combat smuggling in the area, rather than a reduction, 8 July 1822.
