Note from Sir Edward Smith Lees, General Post Office, Dublin, secretary to Irish Post Masters General, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, Dublin Castle, 11 February 1823, enclosing affidavit of Philip Doyle, mail coach driver, sworn 9 February 1823 before Thomas Philips Vokes, magistrate for County Limerick, detailing an attack on the Waterford-Limerick mail coach by an armed party. Details the events, including a shot fired by Arthur Buttle, coach guard, at one of the assailants, and a subsequent attack on Buttle. Also reports the removal of a young female passenger from the coach, 2 of 'the party then took the young woman away across the fields'. Also statement of John S Thwaites, surgeon, Limerick, vouching for his attendance to injuries sustained by Buttle, 9 February 1823.

Letter from Reverend Edward Chichester, Armagh, County Armagh, Church of Ireland rector of Kilmore, County Armagh, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, Dublin Castle, complaining of 'great negligence' on the part of the offices responsible for issuing the patent for the parish of Kilmore, and of losses incurred by Chichester because of the delay. States that Dr Radcliffe [Dr John Radcliffe, member of Privy Council and vicar general of Consistorial Court, Dublin], has declared the patent to be illegal, 10 February 1823. Encloses letter from John Patrickson, deputy to Privy Council, Dublin, to Chichester, concerning the patent, and advising him to write to Gregory on the matter, 8 February 1823. Also note in Gregory's hand, requesting approval of Richard Wellesley, 1st marquis Wellesley, Lord Lieutenant, Dublin Castle, for Gregory's reply on the matter, 12 February 1823; annotation of W[ellesley] written below.
