Adding that the mail was recovered by Mr Tyrrel, late deputy and the police but Mr Tuite’s postbag was not recovered. Mentioning in this context John Quigley, ships-carpenter and John Clements, ship builder. Also letter from D Wilson, attorney, 5 Little Britain Street, threatening legal action against Davidson. File of documents relating to a dispute over the funding and provisioning of a police force in the Barony of Raphoe, [County Donegal]. Includes letters from Maj Samson Carter, Grange Hall, Carndonagh, [County Donegal], to William Gregory, Under Secretary, 14 February-15 April 1821, forwarding applications for a forage contract and an estimate of expenses for the establishment of police in the Barony of Raphoe and also including damp press copy of reply from Gregory. Also letter from William Kemmis, Kildare Street, [Dublin], to Henry Goulburn, Chief Secretary, 1 December 1825, enclosing a case submitted to the Attorney General and Solicitor General arising from the refusal or neglect on the part of Mr Webb, late superintending magistrate of County Donegal, to furnish documents supporting his accounts. Memorial of the merchants of Youghal, County Cork, to Richard Wellesley, Lord Lieutenant, noting the advantages which would ensue if a bridge were constructed over the River Blackwater, near Youghal and requesting that an engineer be sent to investigate possible sites. Also covering and relating letters from James Ellis Green, president of the committee of merchants, Youghal, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, wishing to know the best method by which to pursue the issue. Including annotation from Gregory stating that, as no funds are available, the Lord Lieutenant deems it inadvisable to employ an engineer at public expense.
