Petition of Joseph Tharf, late constable of the Limerick County police, to [Richard] Wellesley, Lord Lieutenant, seeking an annual pension and claiming that his ill health was caused by his exertions with the police over six years. Also letter from Thomas Philips Vokes, Hibernian Hotel, to Henry Goulburn, Chief Secretary, not recommending a pension for Tharf, who was never ‘in the least degree a zealous constable and never did any good he could avoid’. Also letter from Thomas Doolan, Chief Constable noting that Tharf served under him at Rathkeale and was in perfect health at that time. Also letter from Richard Franklin, police surgeon, County Limerick stating that Tharf is suffering from a rheumatic affliction. |

Claiming that the salary of £100 per annum has not been sufficient for the upkeep of his family who are now suffering from fever. |
