Includes annotation from Richard W Greene noting the legal options available to Sheenan. Also letter from Sheenan, Omagh, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, requesting the return of the document in which he swore evidence against Patrick McAleer, John Monaghan and others for forcibly detaining him thereby preventing him from prosecuting Henry McPike and John McAleer whom he had accused of breaking into his house and destroying his crops. Adding that when he demanded payment Wright threatened to take the benefit of the Insolvency Act. Includes annotation stating that government should not involve itself in a private debt. Also letter from Wright, Milltown Malbay, [County Clare], denying that he ever received remuneration for James Brogan, who he recommended for a position in the Revenue Police and stating that the charges against him have been instigated by persons who are maliciously motivated. Memorial of John and William Martin, Cork City, to the Lord Justices of Ireland, drawing attention to the provisions of legislation governing pawnbrokers; requesting that they be appointed as persons authorised to conduct fair auctions of forfeited goods; noting that in Dublin four auctioneers are permitted to carry out such work but that the Grand Jury of Cork has decided that they cannot do likewise. Also draft order from the Lord Justices agreeing to the appointment but including annotation stating that Richard W Greene had advised against the move on legal grounds.
