Letter from Michael Foster, Rinroe, Corofin, [County Clare], to Henry William Paget, Lord Lieutenant, claiming that a tenant of his was unlawfully arrested and charged by Lord Gort and two men named Minster and Nelly for breaking two branches of a tree which overhung a road outside Gort’s estate. Adding that one of the accused was later shot and wounded by Nelly when he attempted to escape and that Mr Morris, land agent to Lord Gort was inaccurate in taking evidence from the wounded man. Includes legal opinion of Richard W Greene, noting that the grievance can only be addressed in the Court of King’s Bench. |
