Petition of John O’Brien, Templemore, County Tipperary, to [Richard Butler, 2nd Earl of] Glengall, Governor of County Tipperary, making a complaint against Thomas Sadlier, Clerk of the Peace, whom he claims failed to assist him in his case against Charles Walsh of Walshpark for money owed. Mentioning his attorney Edward Smyth, 42 Aran Quay, Dublin and Richard Moore, assistant barrister. Includes lengthy description of the facts of the case and also copy of notice served on Sadlier by him. Also document noting the charges against Sadlier, presented to the Justices of the Peace, assembled at the Quarter Sessions, Thurles in October 1826. Includes annotation from Richard W Greene stating that Moore should be applied to in order to ascertain the grounds on which the case was dismissed by the magistrates at the sessions. Also letter from Richard Moore, to identified recipient, noting that the magistrates had determined that the complaint was ‘unfounded’. |

Petition of Dennis Maddigan [Madigan], St Mary’s Parish, Limerick, to Henry William Paget, Lord Lieutenant, seeking payment of a reward which was offered for information which would lead to the arrest of those responsible for the robbery of Mr Corr, grocer, Galway; stating that he gave information to Serg Lowery, in the presence of Mr Blackwell which led to the apprehension of Owen Cronin, James Brandon and Michael Fitzgerald; requesting that any reply to him be addressed care of James Hickey, grocer or Daniel Tubridy, Marys Street, Limerick. Also letters from George Drought, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, explaining the facts of the case; noting that Madigan pursued Mr Lowrie, acting chief constable, for the reward at the Quarter Sessions but was defeated. Adding that both Madigan and Fitzgerald are working in unison. Also letter from Madigan, to Paget, pressing his case. |
