Memorial of 67 inhabitants of the town and vicinity of Cappoquin, [County Waterford], to Richard Wellesley, Lord Lieutenant, complaining that a proposed bridge across the Broad of Youghall estuary will disrupt navigation of the River Blackwater; describing trade on the river and noting that sailing vessels of 400 tons can navigate the river, that 150 horses and carriages operate from the Quay of Tiercullen and that a canal links the town of Lismore to the river; also claiming that a proposed portcullis incorporated into the bridge will be impracticable to use and proposing that an alternative route be chosen for the road from Waterford to Cork, passing through Dungarvan, Lismore and Tallow. Includes statement from 16 captains of vessels who use the river, noting the name, home-port and tonnage of their vessels.
