Includes letter from Thomas D’Arcy, Inspector General, Cavan, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, enclosing a printed reward [extant] for information on the outrage, including the names of circa 300 contributors and observing that the presence of a large body of constables and magistrates prevented a related party riot at Clones Fair. Includes letters from Thomas D’Arcy, Inspector General, Belfast, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, enclosing letters [extant] from Alexander Kingston Fox, Chief Constable, Newbliss, County Monaghan, reporting that three members of the Clarke family, accused of the murder of Patrick Duffy, have been spotted in Scotland and could be arrested; enclosing a bill for expenses incurred by John Little and John Thickpenny, sub constables in pursuit of William Carrol, also implicated in the murder.
