Letter from Rev J Conolly, Ballingarry Glebe, Borrisokane, [County Tipperary], to William Gregory, Under Secretary, forwarding an affidavit [extant] of James Hodgens and John Perry of the Peace Preservation Establishment at Keevanstown concerning a beating which they and Denis O’Donohue of the Constabulary, received during the attempted arrest of Michael Kennedy, a deserter from the 98th Regiment. Noting that the attack occurred at the house of Patrick Kennedy who is suspected of the murder of Rev Charles Minchin. Also mentioning an inquest on the body of [Carew] who was involved in the attempted murder of Fogarty.

Noting that threats have been made against [him] on foot of a contract which he has made with a man named Cavenagh, who has agreed to plaster his house at Camden Quay. Also covering letters from Dunscombe, Mansion House Cork, to William Gregory, Under Secretary and William Lamb, Chief Secretary, noting that a reward of £100 has been offered for prosecuting guilty parties and enclosing a copy of ‘The Constitution or Cork Advertiser’, dated 16th February 1828, providing an account of a public meeting at the Mansion House to discuss the matter.
