States he has served as a county magistrate for over 20 years, and refers to enclosed clipping from the ‘Kerry Evening Post’, 10 December 1828, identifying him as Capt Francis Eagar, who gallantly saved the lives of his entire crew of 18 when his ship the ‘Veronica’ was wrecked in Dingle Bay [on 7 December 1828] – ‘It is but justice to the respectable captain of the Veronica to state, that he was the last to leave the vessel, and not until all hope of saving her or any part of her cargo was quite extinct.’
