File of memorials by James McInerheny [also McEnery], Limerick, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, to Sir Francis Leveson Gower, Chief Secretary, Dublin Castle, and to Hugh Percy, 3rd Duke Northumberland, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Dublin, stating he was crown witness and otherwise helped to bring criminals to justice, asking for a raised subsistence and later, asking for means to emigrate to America. Also includes letter by George Drought, [magistrate], Limerick, to Gower, stating that McInerheny has received Stg£150, later also £30 for his services, that he has no further claim on the government, failed to establish his family in London when being given the means to do so, is a ‘worthless scheming character’, but also saying ‘it is so difficult to get any information at this time that it might be impolitic to cast him entirely off’.
