Kemmis also includes a letter by Maj Samson Carter, Nenagh, [County Tipperary], advising to grant an allowance to both, seeing that they are needed as crown witnesses and might otherwise abscond, ‘be spirited away, or murdered’. |

All reports detail admissions, deaths, discharges, and vacant beds for the House of Recovery, Cork Street, for the House of Industry hospitals, the Meath Hospital, and the Lying In Hospital. Most reports finish with summarising remarks signed by Dr Francis Barker, secretary, in one instance (October) containing a table of admission numbers for four years. Average mortality is one in 10.7; average daily admissions is 11. |
