File of documents regarding the deployment of police on lands held by tenants of Lord Kilmaine and Edward Synge Cooper, County Mayo, ordered by magistrates at the Ballinrobe petty sessions in order to assist Rev John Ashe to collect the tithe. Includes memorial signed by 59 inhabitants of Ballincalla [Ballinchalla, County Mayo], holding land on the estates of Lord Kilmaine [John Cavendish Browne, 3rd Baron Kilmaine] and Edward Synge Cooper, County Mayo, to Hugh Percy, 3rd Duke Northumberland [Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Dublin], complaining about the magistrates’ use of police on 28 November 1829 in order to distrain livestock for Rev John Ashe’s tithe on land that had not been applotted because of Ashe’s interference.
