SCOPE & CONTENT: |
Letter from Dr Edward Trevor, [superintendent and medical inspector of convicts], Dublin, to William Lamb, Chief Secretary, relating to the health of Peter Hagarty, a convict in Cork Gaol awaiting embarkation to the hulk ‘Surprise’ prior to transportation. States that Hagarty was presented before the Judge of Assize, claiming to have lost his eyesight, and consequently, the judge had recommended the mitigation of his sentence. States that upon examination, he found Hagarty’s left eye destroyed, but while the cornea was thickened in his right eye, it would not prevent him seeing. Consequently, Trevor states that he has recommended that Hagarty proceed as planned, and that he will observe him during his stay on the hulk. |

Claims her husband served with the 68th Regiment, and was drowned at Kingston, Canada. Lees informs Lamb that Gallagher has been authorised to pay Kelly the required sum. |
