Letter from Major Daniel Mahony, Killarney, County Kerry, brigade major of yeomanry for counties Cork, Kerry and Waterford, to Charles Grant, Chief Secretary, Dublin Castle, in praise of the conduct of the Tarbert yeomanry corps, County Kerry, in preventing the 'schemes' of the disaffected. Also emphasising the important effect of the 'Judicious' and 'humane' conduct of some local landowners in counties Kerry and Limerick, respecting tithes and, including [Thomas Anthony] Stoughton [incorrectly indexed by CSO as Houghton]. Also concerning the work of emissaries from County Limerick in 'corrupting' the people around Castleisland, County Kerry; and problem of smuggling on the west coast of Kerry. |
