SCOPE & CONTENT: |
Letter from Joseph Morris, debtor held in Four Courts marshalsea, Dublin, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, Dublin Castle, detailing a list of the various repairs required to the prison, and complaining of William Logan, the inspector, who 'seems not inclined to pay attention' to the complaints. Includes lack of lamps lighting parts of the prison, including the privies, which are 'in a wretched offensive state', and the poor supply of water to the bath, resulting in no bathing, 13 February 1821. Also letter from William Logan, 40 Mecklenburgh [Railway] Street, Dublin, inspector to Four Courts marshalsea, Dublin, to Gregory, responding, as requested, to the claims in Morris' letter, emphasising the ongoing vandalism to anything which is repaired, 27 February 1821. |
