SCOPE & CONTENT: |
Petition of Sarah Williams, formerly Sarah Boyle, Murroe, near Newport, County Tipperary, widow of Samuel Williams, formerly of County Limerick police, to Earl Talbot, Lord Lieutenant, Dublin Castle, requesting to receive the pension granted by government to the widows of murdered policemen. States that her husband's death in July 1821 was the result of a chill, caught when he escorted a prisoner in the rain. States that she was only 19 years of age, and in the last stages of pregnancy, when he died, 14 November 1821. Petition certified by Reverend Dr John Jebb, Church of Ireland Archdeacon of Emly and rector of Abington, County Tipperary, 14 November 1821. |
