Noting that government has previously intimated to Lieut Gen John Byng that although there were grounds for prosecution in point of law, the government had decided not to involve itself in the case. Includes lengthy legal opinion from Henry Joy, Attorney General, noting that the case concerned a soldier who died from typhus fever. Also includes an annotation from Gower, noting that it is not advisable for government to prosecute. |
