Mentions that he served with the Loyal Independent troops during the 1798 disturbances but was discharged in 1802 without pension, and that he established a teaching academy in Birr, King's County [Offaly]; that he signed a memorial against Catholic Emancipation, presented by Lord Mayor, Sir Abraham Bradley King, and opposed use of the Cutler’s Hall by the Catholic Board; and that he was detained in the Marshalsea for failure to meet outstanding debts and suffered separation from his young family.
