Relates that while in the employment of Bartholomew Mulcahy of Clonmel, County Tipperary, he was shot by a member of the 34th Regiment of Foot, who was employed at night to guard against theft at a hay yard. Note added to back of memorial by B Radford, MD, Clonmel, stating that O’Brien ‘was admitted into the hospital [of the] House of Industry with a bad gun shot wound of the arm which I found necessary to amputate near the shoulder’. |
