File of papers relating to a request for money from treasury to cover expenses of work to build harbour at Dunleary [Dún Laoghaire], County Dublin. Includes letter from commissioners of Dunleary harbour, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, Dublin Castle, requesting sum of £10,000 for work at harbour, 3 June 1819. Also notes compiled by Chief Secretary's Office on subject, including a list of money issued to Dunleary harbour, 7 September 1816 to 11 March 1819. Also memorandum from Auditor General's office listing advances of money issued from the exchequer towards the construction of harbour eastward of Dunleary, according to the Dublin harbour act, 1816, 56 Geo: 3. chapter 62. States that there are many such prisoners, and that he cannot recommend any one in particular. Encloses petition of Patrick Murphy, debtor confined in Four Courts marshalsea, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, Dublin Castle, concerning his recent removal from the bread list, and requesting that he be reinstated.

Petition of John Bourke Fitzsimons, Hibernian Journal Office, proprietor of the Hibernian Journal newspaper, to Earl Talbot, Lord Lieutenant, Dublin Castle, requesting a government annuity, as an 'old and faithful servant of government'. Emphasises his newspaper's loyal support of government for many years and states that this loyalty has prevented him from competing equally with other newspapers of different political hues.

2 petitions of Joseph Fletcher, Dublin, to Earl Talbot, Lord Lieutenant, requesting to be allowed to continue in post of gate keeper of Phoenix Park, Dublin, having carried out the job since the death of his mother, who in turn, had been allowed to carry on in the job since the death of her husband. Notes that as a boy he also assisted his mother in the job, thus not receiving a full education, [June 1819]. Also letter from Fletcher to Reverend John C Talbot, private secretary to Earl Talbot, Lord Lieutenant, reiterating his request not to be removed from the post, and its premises, 23 August 1819. Annotation of reply by Reverend Talbot states that such government posts are not hereditary in families. Also petition of Fletcher to Charles Grant, Chief Secretary, following his removal from post of gate keeper, and requesting consideration for another government post, 31 August 1819.

Letter from Joseph Farran, office of clerk of pleas, Court of Exchequer, Dublin, second deputy clerk of the pleas of court of exchequer Ireland, to Charles Grant, Chief Secretary, requesting 'protection' from any plans to regulate the office of clerk of the pleas. Encloses petition of Farran to Earl Talbot, Lord Lieutenant, Dublin Castle, requesting that if, as proposed by the commissioners of inquiry, a single deputy clerk is considered sufficient in the office, he will be appointed to that post or compensated accordingly.

Letter from Reverend William Fausset, 5 Trinity Street, Dublin, Church of Ireland curate of parish of Devenish, County Fermanagh, to Chief Secretary's Office [possibly Alexander Mangin, chief clerk], Dublin Castle, requesting government assistance following his partial loss of eye sight. States that as he has been advised not to read or write, he cannot discharge his duties as curate, and hopes for some other role within the church.
