Petition of Andrew Keeffe, Rathangan, County Kildare, to Earl Talbot, Lord Lieutenant, Dublin Castle, requesting assistance in obtaining compensation 'as a suffering loyalist', for losses in relation to 1798 rebellion. Details his case, involving the loss of 500 barrels of malting corn intended for his brewery, when his store was used to house a detachment of the South Cork militia just prior to rebellion in 1798. Also details his ongoing struggle for compensation, which was originally offered, but never paid out, including his petitions to the Duke of York. Emphasises extent of the material loss for his family, being forced to sell of his brewery. |
