Petition of Timothy King, 45 Essex Street, Dublin, formerly store keeper in commissariat department, to Charles Grant, Chief Secretary, Dublin Castle, renewing his request for employment following the disbandment of commissariat department in 1814. Suggests he fill the vacant post of clerk of deliveries in custom house, Dublin, 26 September 1819. Encloses copy of letter of reply from Reverend John C Talbot, Phoenix Park, Dublin, private secretary to Earl Talbot, Lord Lieutenant, to King, received in reply to his earlier petition, stating that Lord Lieutenant has no power to intervene to employ him, 22 June 1818. Annotation of draft letter of reply from Grant, in reply to new petition, 13 October 1819. |

Describes and defends his defence of Methodists from the antipathy of the local Anglican curate, concerning the Methodist school in Tralee, 28 September 1819. Encloses newspaper cutting from 'Kerry Evening Post', of article Busteed published in defence of the Methodists and denouncing the actions of the curate involved, [September 1819]. |

Requests a permanent appointment as fishery inspector under new fishery bill, or employment in another department. Outlines his injuries sustained during military service, including loss of a leg during Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Fears that his current position as inspector of fisheries will soon come to an end under new fisheries legislation, 2 November 1819. Also letter from King to Earl Talbot, repeating his request to be appointed to one of new inspector of fisheries posts, 15 November 1819. |

Includes itemised costs for carpentry, plastering, stone work and brick laying, and also architect's charges. Signed by Francis Johnston, architect to Board of Works, Dublin, November 1818. Also note by J Crofton, concerning the approval of the expenses by parliament, suggesting that it is preferable to wait until the current grant for civil buildings is passed, and then lay this supplementary estimate before parliament, [1819]. |

Petition of inhabitants of city and neighbourhood of Kilkenny, to Earl Talbot, Lord Lieutenant, Dublin Castle, requesting that William Clifford be appointed post master general for Kilkenny, or to some other suitable post. Emphasises good work and character of Clifton as head of the post office at Kilkenny, noting their concerns for his future in view of changes to be made to the post office establishment in Kilkenny. Signed by 50 of Kilkenny town's 'principal inhabitants', including, William Hartford, mayor and James Butler MP for County Kilkenny. Also letter from Edward Smith Lee, General Post Office, Dublin, secretary to Irish Post Masters General, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, Dublin Castle, acknowledging receipt of the petition and stating the response of the Post Master General to it. States that an appointment had already been made to the post prior to arrival of the petition. |
