Petition of magistrates and freeholders of baronies of Ballycowen, Geashill, and Ballyboy, King's County [County Offaly], to Earl Talbot, Lord Lieutenant, Dublin Castle, requesting an additional quarter sessions of the peace be granted to be held in Tullamore, King's County. Emphasises inconvenience of current arrangements, since both Philipstown [Daingean] and Parsonstown [Birr] are at the extremities of the county, resulting in inconvenience and expense to jurors, claimants, prosecutors and witnesses travelling to sessions. Notes that recent new Road Act, whereby witnesses must attend to verify every item of a presentment, has compounded the problem. Signed on behalf of petitioners by J Weldon Farleton, chairman of meeting of magistrates and inhabitants. |

File of papers relating to administration of Church of Ireland diocese of Kildare. Includes letter from Charles Dalrymple Lindsay, Bishop of Kildare, Glasnevin, Dublin, to Charles Grant, Chief Secretary, at Irish Office, London, concerning accusations against his administration of the see of Kildare, which have appeared in Dublin and London newspapers, on authority of 'a Colonel Bagwel'. Explains and defends his reasons for separating or joining various parishes, and emphasises that Reverend Mr Cox, whom he appointed to one of the benefices, was someone 'in no manner whatsoever related to or connected with me'. Also refers to his communications with board of First Fruits; and to the holding of divine service in home of Colonel Bagot of Nurney, County Kildare, 25 April 1819. Also letter from William Gregory, Under Secretary, Dublin Castle, to Sir Charles Flint, Irish Office, London, enclosing copies of various documents relating to 'the Episcopal Disunion of several Churches in the Patronage of the Crown', 10 May 1819. Includes copy of extracts from ecclesiastical reports for diocese of Kildare, 1807; and copy of memorandum relating to the united vicarages of Castropetre and Kilclonfert, diocese of Kildare, 25 July 1811. |

Letter from George King, 3rd earl of Kingston, Myros [Myross] Wood, Rosscarbery, County Cork, to Chief Secretary's Office, Dublin Castle, concerning appointments to be made under new Fishery Bill and recommending Lieutenant Richard Alleyn of Royal Navy for appointment. Notes unemployment and 'wretchedness' of poor in the area, 'who will have an opportunity of earning a livelihood, if the fishery Bill is passed this Session'. States that at present 'many of them have not money to buy seed to plant their potato gardens'. Also requests government aid to support efforts to establish a fever dispensary in area, noting that fever epidemic is much less prevalent in area than in previous year. |

Urges necessity of an act of parliament for fisheries in Ireland, as demonstrated by report from recent meeting of Southern Fishery Association. Comments on poverty of fishermen in Glandore harbour, County Cork, 3 April 1819. Also concerning appointment of additional assistant barrister for County Cork for its additional quarter session, and requesting he speak with Grant on the matter before any appointment is made, 10 April 1819.
