Letter from Sergeant Henry Joy, first sergeant of King's Counsel, to William Saurin, Attorney General, St. Stephen's Green, Dublin, concerning Joy's requests to postpone the County Longford assizes, because of dangers to all those involved from the prevalence of fever in Longford jail. Refers to reports and opinions of Dr John Cheyne and Dr John Moore, medical attendants, on subject, [April 1819]. Also private note referring to Dr George Renny and orders to supply prisoners in Longford, and in other jails where fever prevails, who are appearing at assizes, with clean bed linen, soap and water, and a new outdoor coat, and also that their hair be cut short, [April 1819].
