Letter from Henry Edward Lynch, Cloher [Clogher] House, Ballyglass, County Mayo, magistrate for County Mayo, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, Dublin Castle, requesting to know if John Beatty was executed at last assizes in Ennis, County Clare, for sheep stealing. Lynch states that he pursued a similar conviction against Beatty in 1817, for stealing sheep from his County Galway estates, and wishes to know if he can claim to recover the value of those losses, 17 July 1819. Encloses statement signed by P Curtin, Ennis, stating that sufficient evidence exists against Beatty to try him in Galway for the theft of Lynch's sheep, should he be acquitted at Ennis, 2 March 1819. |
