Letter from Edward Hamilton, Philipstown, [Daingean], King's County [County Offaly], inspector of King's County jail, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, Dublin Castle, responding to Earl Talbot, Lord Lieutenant's request to know why the convicts sent from Philipstown jail were not better clothed. States that the county's grand jurors are reluctant to allocate money to the jail, and notes that he did not realise that convicts had to be properly clothed for the voyage of transportation upon leaving their local jail. |

Encloses letter from Reverend Henry Gubbins, Limerick, local inspector of Limerick city and county jails, to Robert H Archer, assistant to Inspector General of Prisons, explaining the allowances of food given to prisoners, 21 June 1819. Also copy of letter from Gregory to the prisoners of Limerick county jail, stating that following an inquiry, their food allowance is found to be the same as that of the prisoners of Limerick city jail, 'who are perfectly satisfied', 29 June 1819. |

Information on repositories assessed include the Birmingham Tower, Parliamentary Record Office, Rolls' Office, Chief Remembrance's Office, and Auditor General's Office, commenting on the areas of buildings; cataloguing, calendars and indexes; transfers, transcription and printing, 24 March 1818.
