SCOPE & CONTENT:

Letter from Charles Mahon, Ennis, County Clare, assistant barrister for County Clare, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, Dublin Castle, complaining of the substandard supply of statutes recently received from the King's Printer in London. Notes that public officials of county Clare, and other counties, who were always in regular receipt of the statutes, have received 'a few statutes only, on bad paper, in bad type', and with many chapters missing. Requests that the printers be directed to rectify this, and emphasises necessity of receiving statutes, to work of legal officials of each county.

Includes letter from Thomas Taylor, clerk in civil department of Chief Secretary's Office, Dublin Castle, to Sidney Streatfeild, London, private secretary to Charles Grant, Chief Secretary of Ireland, stating the vacant post of clerk of the informations, has been abolished and that duties of the office will be performed by the deputy clerk. Refers to Reilly's claims of incompetency against the assistant clerk, Mr Poe, 7 July 1820.
