Petition of Thomas Hunter, prisoner held in County Cavan jail, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, Dublin Castle, requesting release from prison. States that despite being released from the debt against him, he is still held in prison because of jail fees owed. Urges that these do not apply to him, under recent act of parliament to abolish jail fees. Truth of petition certified by George Spaight, local inspector of Cavan jail, who states that he believes that Hunter is still liable to pay jail fees, 22 August 1821.
