SCOPE & CONTENT: |
Letter from Robert Sharland, Anahilt [Annahilt], near Hillsborough, County Down, to Charles Grant, Chief Secretary, Dublin Castle, stating that a Presbyterian minister, 'from prejudice against vaccination', is about to once more attempt to introduce small pox into the neighbourhood via inoculation. States that on the previous occasion, the fatalities from small pox were as great as from typhus fever. Requests that government intervene with legislation preventing the introduction of 'so contagious and loathsome a disease in healthy districts'. |
