Petition of Ann Sparling, widow, Ruscha, [Rúscach; Rooskagh], County Limerick, to Earl Talbot, Lord Lieutenant, Dublin Castle, detailing the murder of her husband, Christopher Sparling, and various attacks on their farm, having been encouraged to settle there by the land agent to Lord Courtenay, to establish 'a Colony of Loyal Industrious farmers professing the Religion of the established Church of England'. Claims that those who murdered her husband were Palatines. Requests government assistance to support her family. Petition certified by local church figures, and magistrates, as well as Alfred Furlong, agent to Courtenay estate, and RH Fitzgibbon, governor of County Limerick. |

Letter from Charles Tandy, 4 Moland [Talbot] Street, Dublin, attorney, to Charles Grant, Chief Secretary, Dublin Castle, on behalf of the committee appointed by the attorneys of Ireland to represent the profession, in relation to the proposed parliamentary bills for regulating Irish law courts. Requests that consideration of the bills be postponed to allow them time to communicate their observations in full, 27 February 1821. Encloses copy of some of their objections to the bill, and the resolution passed at their meeting of 16 February 1821, to present their objections to the judges and law officers of the crown. Annotation on reverse of Tandy's letter, of draft letter of reply from Grant to Tandy, 8 March 1821. |
