Emphasises that it would encourage absentees to return to Ireland, if they could enjoy the same comforts as in England. Also suggests the abolition of searching passengers' luggage at Irish ports, and expresses his opposition to protection duties, 3 March 1821. Annotation on reverse of copy of letter of reply from Grant to Vesey, 12 March 1821. Also letter from Vesey, at Blake's Hotel, Jermyn Street, London, to Grant, on subject of duties on parcels arriving into Ireland, and enclosing notes for a clause for exempting parcels of small value from duties currently imposed on goods passing from Holyhead to Dublin, 24 April 1821.
