Letter from Charles Bagot, 3 Lower Pembroke Street, Dublin, magistrate of King's County [County Offaly], to William Gregory, Under Secretary, Dublin Castle, 2 June 1821. Encloses petition of Charles Molloy, formerly of High Gate, barony of Killcoursey, King's County, linen weaver, to Earl Talbot, Lord Lieutenant, requesting police employment [31 May 1821]. Refers to his service in the Kilcoursey yeomanry and his brave conduct during an attack on his home by an armed gang, seeking to take his firearms. States that since his efforts to identify and prosecute those involved, he and his family have been threatened, and forced to leave their home and land. Petition certified by magistrates and gentlemen of Clara, King's County, including Charles Bagot; William Banwick, James Cox; Abraham Fuller; Reverend Skelton Gresson; and Andrew Armstrong, 31 May 1821.
