Encloses letter from Richard Palmer, Cahirconlish [Caherconlish], County Limerick, chief constable in County Limerick police, to Going, reporting on the murder of John Gorman, a sub constable stationed in Cahirconlish, when he accompanied Dennis Hayes, to execute a warrant. Palmer encloses copy of information of Gorman, sworn before Richard Cox, magistrate, just before Gorman's death from his wounds, 4 August 1821; and information of Hayes, sworn before Cox, 4 August 1821. Going also encloses letter from Cox to Going, urging assistance be given to Gorman's widow and children, 4 August 1821. |
