Letter from Richard Griffith, mining engineer, Skibbereen, County Cork, to William H Gregory, Under Secretary of Ireland, Dublin Castle, reporting on various application from County Cork for inclusion of minor public works; suggests that priority be given to ‘those parts of the country which at present are nearly inaccessible’ especially ‘the lately disturbed moory mountain district, situated between the River Shannon and the River Blackwater’: indicates that the second class worth considering are the ‘expensive public roads’ and the third class would include baronial roads and ‘small piers on the sea coast for the protection of fishing boats, and the landing of sea weed, and sea land for manure’.
