Letter from John Charles Herries, Treasury Chambers, London, joint secretary to the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury, to Henry Goulburn, Chief Secretary, Dublin Castle, 8 December 1823, enclosing a copy of a list of the London wholesale prices of the various descriptions of superfine and second writing papers, for the quarter ending 10 October 1823. List originally certified by Christopher Magnay and Company, and by Jones, Wiggins and Company, wholesale stationers, London. With subsequent annotation on Herries' letter, by Goulburn, instructing that the price list be forwarded to Sir Abraham Bradley King, King's Stationer in Ireland. Also note in hand of Chief Secretary's Office official, stating that King has received the price list, but that the types of paper included on it 'are not such as he furnishes' to the Irish government departments.

Letter from John Tew Armstrong, 16 North Frederick Street, Dublin, deputy clerk of the pipe, to William Gregory, Under Sectretary, enclosing accounts of all sums paid to the Exchequer in Ireland 'for fines and recognizances' as requested; observing that the sheriffs are attracted by the 'very liberal allowance' afforded to them and are therefore in the habit of 'arresting and crowding their Gaols with a number of indigent persons' who are subsequently discharged as insolvents. Includes accounts for various counties noting the names of the sheriffs and amounts paid into the Treasury. Includes memorandum outlining how these monies are to be dealth with and accounted for.
