Letter from Anne Mitchell, Old Brazen Head Hotel, Lower Bridge Street, Dublin, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, Dublin Castle, requesting relief from payment of one half of her hotel licence, noting that this has been granted to her for the last 2 years. States that the police magistrates of Usher's quay division, are pressing her for payment of the whole amount. Requests Gregory's assistance, noting that his '...humane Interference…has for the last two years been the means of preventing my Ruin…', 17 February 1823. Also letter from Alderman Frederick Darley and Henry Charles Sirr, police magistrates, head office of police, Dublin, to Gregory, reporting, as requested, on the case, 4 March 1823, and enclosing copy of report of the magistrates of the 2nd (Usher's Quay) division of police, recommending that the 'indulgence' once again be granted to Mitchell, 3 March 1823.
