Letter from Sir John Sinclair, 133 George Street, Edinburgh, Scotland, to Henry Goulburn, Chief Secretary, Dublin Castle, 2 January 1823, recommending the adoption of the Scottish system of banking, in Ireland. Also advocating his belief in propriety of making silver a legal tender, jointly with gold, thus, 'the circulation of the currency would be augmented; and the value of all the productions of Agriculture would be increased'. Encloses printed account of the proceedings of 'A General Committee appointed by various counties in Scotland', to consider agricultural distress in Scotland, held at Edinburgh, 22 December 1822, and chaired by Sinclair. Also encloses printed plan by Sinclair, 'On the Propriety of Making Silver, Jointly with Gold, a Legal Tender'. Includes background information on the history of legal tenders established in England and detailing the arguments in favour of establishing silver as a joint standard [December 1822].

Trevor requests that the child be allowed to be admitted to the House of Industry, 10 January 1821. Encloses letter from Thomas Booth, Mercer's Hospital, apothecary of Mercer's Hospital, to Trevor, reporting that the boy is ready to be discharged, but has nowhere to be sent, 4 January 1823.
