Mentions coming under pressure from an associate of the thieves [Maurice Connell] to abandon pursuit of justice; and also refers to his relocation from the neighbourhood of Cappoquin, County Waterford, to Castlelyons, County Cork, for reasons of personal safety. Outline of case concerning request by commissioners appointed for purpose of enlarging the outlets of the county gaol of [County] Cork for advance of payment of sums of £4,682 7s 6d and £215 claimed from the Consolidated Fund, with opinion of Solicitor General [Henry Joy] and Attorney General [William Conyngham Plunket]. Encloses copy of presentment intended to raise funds for enlarging outlets of gaol through ‘making a Bridge over the Southern Branch of the River Lee and a Causeway to Communicate with the said Bridge and County Jail and the new Western Road’ and to formally appoint commissioners to supervise work; signed by James Chatterton, clerk of the crown. Also encloses copy memorial from commissioners to Richard Wellesley, 1st Marquis Wellesley, Lord Lieutenant, Dublin Castle, seeking funds for completion of proposed project.
