Encloses copy certificate in favour of Turpin, signed by a number of individuals including officers of the Ballylongford infantry with whom Turpin serves as private. Also three memorials from Turpin to Wellesley repeating his application for a post in the police establishment on account of his difficult personal ‘circumstances’.

Letter from Sir Edward Smith Lees, secretary, General Post Office, Dublin, to William H Gregory, Under Secretary of Ireland, Dublin Castle, indicating in response to a claim from Susanah Frances O’Keefe, in connection with the loss of a marriage jointure that he ‘is not apprized of the Merits of this case’. Returns memorial from O’Keefe, widow, 79 Long Acre, parish of St Martin in the Fields, County Middlesex, England, to ‘the Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland in Parliament assembled’ seeking redress and compensation over the loss of the jointure due to her, the income of which was drawn out of the turnpike road between Clonmel, County Tipperary, and Doneraile, County Cork, which were appropriated by government for use of the Royal Mail; asserts the property in question was held by lease to her father in law, Menas O’Keefe, of Farrahy [Farrihy], County Limerick, and passed to her by virtue of a settlement upon marriage to his son, Dixon O’Keefe; complains that despite support for her claims from a number of key gentry including Lord Landaff [Francis James Mathew] and Lord Lismore [Cornelius O'Callaghan] no recompense has yet been paid. Also letter from O’Keefe, London, to Lieutenant Colonel Meyrick Shawe, private secretary to Richard Wellesley, 1st Marquis Wellesley, Lord Lieutenant, Dublin Castle, emphasising her claim for redress and lamenting the expense of attempting to pursue the matter in Parliament.

Letter from Mathew Barrington, crown solicitor [Munster circuit], Dublin, to Henry Goulburn, Chief Secretary, Dublin Castle, reporting that John Raymond, magistrate, is not entitled to any portion of the reward for apprehending James Bridgeman, one of the murderers of Major Richard Going; he acknowledges the contribution of Raymond, ‘a very active Magistrate of the County of Kerry’, as a witness in the case and recommends payment to him of ‘any additional expenses’ that might be owing. Also letter from Raymond, Sea Lodge, County Kerry, to Goulburn, outlining the case for payment of reward upon the capture of Bridgeman; admits that the time of apprehension fell outside the period stipulated by the proclamation but advances his claim on the basis of time expended in the pursuit of Bridgeman and exposure to ‘personal danger’.
