Noting incidences of rioting at fairs, waylaying of travellers, murders but concluding that the province is generally tranquil and that employment is plentiful among the operative and labouring classes. Noting in particular a riot at Arvagh in County Cavan; a party riot at Hilltown, County Down on the anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot; the murder of a blacksmith named O’Neill at Dungannon and the beating of James Reid who was returning from the fair at Dungannon. |

Claiming that McDaniel shouted the abuse outside Daly’s house late at night when he was not there and that the police who witnessed the incident did not intervene because the Daly’s are catholic.
