Letter from George Bradshaw, High Constable of the Barony of Clanwilliam, Pegsborough [House], Tipperary, to William Lamb, Chief Secretary, enclosing affidavit of his assistant, William Lamphier, sworn before magistrate Richard Larkin, stating that he finds it ‘impossible to collect in the cess without the aid of the military or police… [and] there are many parts of the Barony that he will not venture to enter for the purpose of collecting the cess, being afraid of loosing [sic] his life’. Additional letter from Bradshaw to the magistrates assembled at the Petty Sessions 19 Jul 1827, containing affidavit sworn by county magistrates Larkin, James Sully, M Crosbie Moore and William Purefoy, substantiating his claims.
