Original report and duplicate copy of fever patients received in Dublin hospitals for the month ended 28 February 1827. Details numbers of patients admitted, rejected, discharged and died, as well as the number of vacant beds, for 7 hospitals: House of Recovery, Cork Street; hospitals of the houses of industry; Meath Hospital; Kevin Street Hospital; Sir Patrick’s Dunn’s Hospital; Steevens’ Hospital; and New Witworth Hospital. Also contains remarks on report signed by Dr Francis Barker, secretary of the General Board of Health, including a table depicting the numbers of monthly admissions, comparative mortality rate and average daily admissions for the months September 1826 to February 1827. Annotation on reverse signed by Richard Wellesley, Lord Lieutenant, stating ‘send to Mr [Robert] Peel’. |

States he cannot return to his home county of Carlow as he provided evidence in a case against an ‘assassin and an armed Bantitti [Banditti] that had it in contemplation the Destruction of lives and Property’. Signed by Robert [Moore] Fisbourne, stating that he knew the stated facts to be true. Also includes letter and certificate from magistrate Thomas Kavanagh, [], testifying to Kennedy’s character and his role in the conviction of ‘a formidable gang to which he himself belonged in the years 1818 and 19’. |

File of 3 memorials submitted in consequence of attacks on police barracks in counties Limerick and Cork. Memorials of widows Elizabeth Colgan and Bridget Dunlap, [Cork], to [Richard Wellesley], Lord Lieutenant, seeking relief following the murder of their husbands Hugh Colgan and Benjamin Dunlap, policemen, in an attack on their barracks in Churchtown by a group of Whiteboys on the night of 31 January 1822. Also memorial of William Regan and his sister, Mary Regan, Doneraile, Cork, to [Richard Wellesley], Lord Lieutenant, seeking protection and remuneration for their testimonies which led to the conviction of 14 men for an attack on the police barracks at Glenosheen, Limerick, in April 1823. All 4 memorialists state that they have been under the protection of Maj [Samson] Carter since the incident in question, and refer to him as referee. |

Letter from Robert Ward, Bangor, [County Down], to William Gregory, Under Secretary, relating to recent controversy and ‘mischief’ stirred in the parish of Bangor by the arrival of James Rose Clealand, who encouraged religious debate, distributed pamphlets and called public meetings with a view to petition parliament. States current population of the parish as 9000: exclusive of the militia, consisting of approximately 20 families from the Established Church, 3 from the Roman Catholic, and the remainder being dissenters of the Church of Scotland. Encloses copy of orders written by Clealand, calling a meeting at the School House, Castle Street, on 8 February 1827. Annotation on reverse by Richard Wellesley, Lord Lieutenant, stating ‘this is a very amusing letter, I wish for a copy of it’, and instructing that it be referred to [William Plunket], Attorney General.
